Letitia L. Ballance, DDS
Owner
Dr. Ballance was born and raised in Waynesville NC and is a 1982 graduate of Tuscola Senior High School. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene with academic honors in 1992 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1995. While attending dental school, she was chosen to be a member of the 1991 UNC Dental Mexico Project, providing dental care to underserved children in Mexico. Dr. Ballance is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Association of Women Dentists, and NC Dental Society and is a Lifetime Member of the North Carolina General Alumni Association.
Heather Berkheimer, DDS
Dr. Heather Berkheimer received a degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and attended dental school at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, graduating in 2000. Dr. Berkheimer has enjoyed treating children and adolescents for over 20 years. She hopes to make all dental experiences positive and comfortable for our young patients. She considers it an honor and privilege to work with the compassionate and friendly staff at Carolina West Dental with the goal of providing the highest quality care. Dr. Berkheimer recently completed a fellowship in pediatric dentistry at East Carolina School of Dental Medicine, the Jasper L. Lewis Collaborative in Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Berkheimer grew up in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She has lived in the Asheville area since 2003 and is grateful to be able to enjoy the beautiful and majestic mountains of Western North Carolina. She enjoys exploring the many trails and waterfalls of Western NC, running, and taking yoga classes. She is grateful for time with family, her husband and their two adult sons. Dr. Berkheimer stays active in the community through volunteer work and with dental screenings and educating pre-school and elementary school children on the importance of dental health.
Constance Lewis, DDS
Dr Connie began her professional career as a Nurse after receiving her BS in Nursing from Nicholls State University. After 10 years as a Nurse, she decided to change careers and pursue a career in Dentistry. She received a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from LSU Health Science Center in 1993. After graduation, she was one of only four participants selected to join a flagship General Dentistry internship program at LSU.
She has served over 30 years as a General Dentist, with the last 23 years treating children and young adults, focusing on providing excellent care specifically intent on helping underserved communities.
Dr Connie has dedicated her career to providing the absolute best dental care possible to her patients and believes that CWD holds these same values and is extremely proud and honored to be part of this great team!
Born and raised in south Louisiana/New Orleans, the NC mountains always held a special place in her heart. She relocated to Western NC in 2004 and fell in love with this area and all it has to offer. In her spare time, she visits Louisiana often to be with her two adult children and 8 grandchildren. She currently lives in Maggie Valley in the heart of the Smoky Mountains with her two Doodles.
She also enjoys to travel – especially to Disney World!
Joel Reinhart, DMD
Dr. Joel is a dedicated General Dentist originally from Cape Canaveral, Florida who got to the NC mountains as quickly as he could! He has been serving younger patients who were enrolled in Medicaid for over 20 years with passion and dedicated expertise, especially those needing Endodontic care. He earned his dental degree from the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 2002, graduating near the top of his class. With a decades long focus on patient comfort, Dr. Joel combines technical skill with a compassionate approach to ensure stress-free visits for all his patients. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking with his dogs and spending time with with his family supporting his alma mater in all types of sports. (Go Gators!!)
