Letitia L. Ballance, DDS
Owner
Dr. Ballance was born and raised in Waynesville NC and is a 1982 graduate of Tuscola Senior High School. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene with academic honors in 1992 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1995. While attending dental school, she was chosen to be a member of the 1991 UNC Dental Mexico Project, providing dental care to underserved children in Mexico. Dr. Ballance is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Association of Women Dentists, and NC Dental Society and is a Lifetime Member of the North Carolina General Alumni Association.
Heather Berkheimer, DDS
Dr. Heather Berkheimer received a degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and attended dental school at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, graduating in 2000. Dr. Berkheimer has enjoyed treating children and adolescents for over 20 years. She hopes to make all dental experiences positive and comfortable for our young patients. She considers it an honor and privilege to work with the compassionate and friendly staff at Carolina West Dental with the goal of providing the highest quality care. Dr. Berkheimer recently completed a fellowship in pediatric dentistry at East Carolina School of Dental Medicine, the Jasper L. Lewis Collaborative in Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Berkheimer grew up in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She has lived in the Asheville area since 2003 and is grateful to be able to enjoy the beautiful and majestic mountains of Western North Carolina. She enjoys exploring the many trails and waterfalls of Western NC, running, and taking yoga classes. She is grateful for time with family, her husband and their two adult sons. Dr. Berkheimer stays active in the community through volunteer work and with dental screenings and educating pre-school and elementary school children on the importance of dental health.
Andres Morantes, DDS
Dr. Andres Morantes attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2017. He went on to serve his nation as an Active Duty Dentist in the US Army for four years. While in the Army he completed a 1 year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency where he met his wife.
His passions in dentistry include providing access to care for underserved populations, and providing an excellent patient experience during their dental visit.
Outside of dentistry, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, and playing in nature.
